Nevada Updates TXR-020, Modified Business Tax Return
IMPORTANT NOTICE for Nevada QuickBooks Payroll Customers
The Nevada Department of Taxation has updated its form NV TXR-020, Modified Business Tax Return. To accommodate this change, Intuit is updating the NV TXR-020 Report to help you with filing the form, which went from version .01 to .04.
To use the report to complete the Modified Business Tax Return, you can either:
- Install the Payroll Update currently scheduled to be released 10/16/09, which will include updates to the form, or
- Use the values on lines 1-6 of the current form to determine the taxable wages, then manually calculate the tax
If you have already filed your quarterly NV TXR-020 return and used the calculated taxes from the current report, you may need to file an amended return. Instructions for filing an amended return can be found here. You can use the updated report to help you determine the correct values.
To ensure you have the latest forms and tax rates, we recommend you keep the Automatic Update feature turned on (it is on by default). To make sure Automatic Updates are turned on:
- From the Help menu, select Update QuickBooks.
- Click the Options tab.
- Make sure that Yes is selected in the Automatic Update option.
- In the Updates list, mark the following channels: Service Messages, Payroll, Federal Forms, Forms Engine, and State Forms and Maintenance Release.
