Minnesota Workforce Enhancement Fee Rate Change for 2009
On May 14, 2009, Governor Pawlenty signed legislation increasing the Minnesota Workforce Enhancement Fee rate to 0.12% from 0.10% effective July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2011. The agency will be sending notification of this rate change beginning July 12, 2009.
Who is affected?
You may be affected if you currently make UI contributions in the State of Minnesota or if you currently have a valid MN Dept of Emp and Economic Dev UI Tax Acct No.
When is the new rate for the Minnesota Workforce Enhancement Fee effective?
The rate increase to 0.12% is effective July 1, 2009. There are no adjustments necessary for paychecks dated January 1, 2009 through June 30, 2009, as the rate of 0.10% was applicable for wages paid during that period up to the 2009 annual wage base limit of $26,000. The calculations based on the new rate of 0.12% apply to paychecks dated July 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009, up to the 2009 annual wage base limit of $26,000.
Note: If the 2009 annual wage base limit of $26,000 was met prior to July 1, 2009, no tax calculations will occur for the Workforce Enhancement Fee for paychecks dated on or after July 1, 2009.
