View Status of Payroll Subscription and Subscription Information

To determine the status of your payroll subscription in QuickBooks, go to the Account Maintenance page, or follow the steps below.

In QuickBooks Pro and Premier and Enterprise:

  1. Click on Employees on the top menu bar in QuickBooks.
  2. Select My Payroll Service.
  3. Click on Manage Service Key.
  4. Below Service Name it will show which subscription you have signed up for, and to the right below Status will show the status of your payroll subscription.
  5. Click View for details regarding your service including your Subscription Number.

In Simple Start:

  1. Click on Payroll at the top to enter the Payroll Center. 
  2. Click on the My Payroll Service drop-down menu and then select Manage Service Key.  Under the Service Name it will show which service you have signed up for.
  3. Click View for details regarding your service including your Subscription Number.

Note: If this is a new company file or you have never subscribed to a payroll service, your options may be different.

ActiveYou already have a current subscription to a QuickBooks Payroll service.Make sure that your subscription number (which identifies you as a subscriber and entitles you to payroll updates) also appears in this window. Proceed to step 4.
No subscription number and...You have subscribedPlease call Intuit Payroll Services at (800) 624-2106, Mon-Fri, 6 AM to 6 PM Pacific Time.
No subscription number and...You have not subscribedPlease call Intuit at (866) 820-6382 to sign up for payroll and then proceed to step 4.
A subscription number
Proceed to step 4.
Invalid Number or EINThe release of your software is not updated.Download and install the web patch from the Quickbooks.com/support site, or call 1-800-624-2106 for assistance.
InactiveYour subscription has expired.Click Account Info and complete the wizard. Be sure to update your billing information. Proceed to step 4.
Not SubscribedYou have not yet subscribed to the QuickBooks Payroll service.Click Subscribe and complete the wizard. Proceed to step 4.
