    Registering/Activating QuickBooks

    Overview

    Registration/Activation is free and entitles you to many benefits, including access to technical support and notification of product updates.

    For QuickBooks 2015 and older versions
    You can use QuickBooks up to 30 days without registering. After 30 days, you must register to continue using QuickBooks.

    For QuickBooks 2016
    You have to Activate QuickBooks first before you can start using it.

    Important: If you have multiple copies of QuickBooks, you must register/activate each copy installed on every computer.

    For Quickbooks Pro/premier:

    To register a copy of QuickBooks that has never been registered online:

    For QuickBooks 2015 and older versions:
    1. Open QuickBooks.
    2. Check to see if QuickBooks is already registered.
    3. Press F2 while in QuickBooks, and Product Information window shows REGISTERED or UNREGISTERED.  To proceed in registering QuickBooks, close the Product Information window.
    4. Go to Help menu> Register QuickBooks.
    5. Click Begin Registration.
    6. Follow the prompts to complete the registration process.

    For QuickBooks 2016:
    1. Open QuickBooks.
    2. Check to see if QuickBooks is already activated. Press F2 while in QuickBooks, and the Product Information window should show whether your QuickBooks is ACTIVATED or NOT ACTIVATED. To proceed in registering QuickBooks, close the Product Information window.
    3. Go to Help menu > Activate QuickBooks.
    4. Click Begin Activation.
    5. Follow the prompts to complete the registration process.

    To register a copy of QuickBooks that has never been registered by phone:

    1. Open QuickBooks.
    2. Go to Help menu > Register QuickBooks.
      For QuickBooks 2016:
      Go to Help menu > Activate QuickBooks.
    3. Write down the License and Product numbers shown.
    4. Contact support:
    • From within the USA, call 800.316.1068
    • From outside the USA, call 520.901.3220

    To register a copy of QuickBooks that was registered previously:

    If you install QuickBooks on a new computer, you need to register again. When you reregister, you must provide the ZIP code and phone number that was originally used to register the product.

    Note: QuickBooks will prompt you to register if it's required. Not all situations require you to reregister (such as reinstalling QuickBooks on the same computer).
    1. Open QuickBooks.
    2. Press F2 while in QuickBooks, and Product Information window appears. Write down the license and products numbers.
    3. Click OK.
    4. Go to Help menu> Register QuickBooks.
    5. Click Begin Registration.
    6. Follow the prompts to complete the registration process.

    For Quickbooks For Mac:

    To register online:

    1. Select QuickBooks menu and select Register QuickBooks.
    2. Enter the License Number and Product Number and click Next.
    3. Click Register Online.
    4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete your registration.

    The message Registration Completed displays.

    Note: If the option to register is not there, then your software is already registered.
