Run a payroll service fee report

Overview

Assisted Payroll service fees differ per payroll depending on how often payroll is processed and whether services such as Direct Deposit or Paycards are included. This article explains how to run a QuickReport that shows the cost of payroll for a specific time period.

Assumptions

You must have access to your QuickBooks company file.

Expected Outcome

You will be able to create a report showing your payroll service fees for a specified time period.

Details

To create a report that shows payroll service fees:

Choose Company > Chart of Accounts.

In Simple Start, choose Company > Lists > Chart of Accounts.

Select the account where payroll fees are posted and click Reports Tab at the bottom or right click on the account and choose QuickReports: Payroll Expenses.

In Simple Start, double-click the account name to open the QuickReport and modify it.
Payroll Expenses is the default account.

Enter dates that specify the time period for the report in the From and To fields. Press the Tab key to refresh

Choose Modify Report > Filters.

Select Choose Filter > Name > QuickBooks Payroll Service.

Click OK. The payroll service fees appear as Liability Check in the Type column.

To check payroll service fees for one payroll run:

Choose Banking > Use Register.

Select the account from which payroll is debited.

Double-click the appropriate QuickBooks Payroll Service liability check.

The payroll service fees appear under the Expense tab.
