    Error 15xxx (15000 series) when getting updates

    Problem

    One of the following errors occurs when downloading a payroll update or updating QuickBooks:

    Assumptions

    You have an active QuickBooks payroll subscription and is able to connect to the Internet and access secured websites.

    Details

    Below is a list of fixes for this error. You may not need to follow all of them to resolve the issue. If you are receiving a specific error or message, search our knowledgebase for instructions on how to resolve that particular error.

    To resolve:

    Install a digital signature certificate.

    1. Do a Windows Search for QBW32.exe, which is located in C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks.
      To search for QBW32.EXE in Windows 7:
      1. If QBW32.EXE does not come up during initial search, click the link for More Results in the Windows Search section.
      2. On Next Screen, click on Computer icon. (Windows will run a search in your computer).
      3. From search results, findQBW32.EXE that has a Type of Application.
    2. Right-click QBW32.exe, and select Properties.
    3. Click the Digital Signature tab, and ensure Intuit, Inc. is selected in the signature list.
    4. Click Details.
    5. In the Digital Signature Details window, click View Certificate.
    6. In the Certificate window, click Install Certificate.
    7. Clicking Next until Finish is displayed. Then click Finish.
    8. Restart the computer.
    9. Open QuickBooks.
    10. Download the update again.

    Verify your Internet Connection and QuickBooks settings.

    Configure your firewall or anti-virus to ensure QuickBooks files have both incoming and outgoing Internet access.

    Firewalls that are not configured to allow QuickBooks files can cause these types of error when attempting to download updates.

    Fix Microsoft Cryptographic Services that have been damaged or compromised.

    Microsoft website has a tool that frequently fixes these problems. (It is a quick and easy fix.)
    1. Click the website address> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798.
    2. When you get to the website, scroll down to the middle of the article until you get to Resolution Topic.
    3. Click the Fix it button (see picture below) and follow the steps.

    If the error continues, try sending in safe mode.

    Error 15271 - not listed - have researched this myself and no solutions is working - please help - subscription is active

    Error 15271: The payroll update (or the update) did not complete successfully. A file cannot be validated.

    The error # given 15240 is not listed. There is no link or instruction for the error numbers listed.
