Remove payroll service key in QuickBooks

To remove the payroll subscription from a company file, you need to remove the service key from the compay file. This process will turn off the features of the payroll subscription in the company file but will not cancel the payroll subscription.
Assumptions
You must have a current payroll subscription in QuickBooks.
Expected Outcome
You can remove a payroll subscription from QuickBooks which will remove the company EIN from your payroll service.
Details
If you have either Direct Deposit or the Assisted Payroll service, do not perform this procedure. You will not be able to transmit payroll data.
If you have DIY Direct Deposit or Assisted payroll and need to remove Service Key from your company file, please contact us.

To remove a service key in QuickBooks:
Back up the company file.
Open the QuickBooks Service Keys window.
- For QuickBooks Pro and Premier: from the Employees menu, choose My Payroll Service Manage Service Key.
- For Simple Start: choose Payroll > My Payroll Service > Manage Service Key.
Click Remove or press ALT + 0, then click Yes to the next two messages.
Removing Service Key from your company file will not cancel your payroll subscription. To cancel your service, see Cancel Standard, Enhanced, or Basic payroll service.
